Le Salette Wines Description
Light ruby in color, the nose has copious smoky mineral, a touch of fresh tobacco and cherry scent. Light medium in body, with a broad mouth feel and good acidity, fine tannins provide very good structure and focus. The flavors are slightly herbaceous and very savory, with a great deal of saliva-inducing mineral. The finish is well balanced, firm and reserved, and has very good length.
James Suckling: 92 Points
Delicious valpo classico, hitting that versatile, apposite sweet spot between a lighter-weighted red, or a richer rosato. The sort of space inhabited by wines that most wine drinkers (rather than collectors) rejoice in. Cru Beaujolais, lighter grenache, Jura and so forth. Macerated strawberry doused with thyme, mint and marjoram, compressed ever so slightly by well-placed tannic astringency, crushed-musk brightness and noble amaro bitterness. Damn, I could drink a great deal of this.
